Small donations of 2 or less bags are gratefully received from 9.30am to 3.30pm Mon to Sat.
For large donations of more than 2 bags/boxes please phone prior to drop off to arrange a suitable time as there may be occasions , for health and safety reasons, we are unable to accept large donations.
Items we accept
By donating your unwanted items to The Giving Tree you are promoting sustainability and supporting both the local community and international aid.
Below is a list of items we accept.
- Household items: Vases, ornaments, dishes, cutlery, soft furnishing etc.
- Clothing: Ladies’ Men’s and children’s clothes, shoes and accessories.
- Books: fiction, non fiction and children’s. Please note we are only able to accept 1 small box of books at any times
- Small pieces of furniture. Upholstered items must have an original fire safety notice
- Toys with CE or UKCA safety mark
- Small electrical items in working order with a CE or UKCA mark.
Items we cannot accept
We are very grateful for your donations but there are some items we cannot accept for legal, safety, hygiene and undesirability reasons. Please see the list below.
- Anything broken, dirty, incomplete, or unsafe.
- Electrical items
- Toys without a CE or UKCA mark.
- Bikes, skateboards, ice skates or rollerblades (unless new and in original packaging).
- Pillows and duvets (unless new and in original packaging)
- Videos, music cassettes and CDs.
- DVDs (18 cert)
- Large items of furniture.
- Nursery equipment.
- Food or perishables
- Blinds.
- Items made from real fur or ivory.
- Candles without instructions.
- Sharp objects.
- Opened cosmetics and toiletries.
- Mobile phones, computers, tablets.
- Safety equipment e.g. helmets, flotation aids, safety harnesses.
- Prescription spectacles.
- Medicines or medical equipment.
- Mobility aids.
- Large pieces of sport’s equipment. eg golf clubs
N.B. Disposing of items we are unable to sell costs money and diverts funds away from charities we are supporting.

How to donate
We accept donations at the shop 9.30 to 4.30 Monday to Saturday.
On rare occasions, when we have been lucky enough to receive a high volume of donations , we are unable to accept large donations (i.e. multiple bags and boxes). If you have a large donation it is always better to phone us before travelling to the shop.
